I feel like a person could write a good book about anything, about anytime, any place. The world is blown completely open. Chasing some kind of “post-post-post-post” seems like a fools errand. It’s almost impossible to imagine a “new” thing. I think maybe just a well crafted well written story would suffice.

Or something written by an insane person who’s just sane enough to get it on paper.

On Sunday I talked with two of my best friends, both young, living in Brooklyn, and extremely well-read. I asked them what they knew about Dimes Square. Neither had ever heard of it.

That was a helpful reminder that most people are not online that much, and most people do not care.

Absolutely largely a construction blown-up by among a certain class of culture writers; a Truman Show for millennials about What's Hip With The Kids -- ultimately it still maintains a lot of power over those literary institutions said culture writers and their milieu work for that they feel anxious enough about them to give them publishing deals and article coverage and the like
